3. Woven Paper Basket Using Recycled Magazines

Woven paper baskets are an excellent way to repurpose old magazines or newspapers. The method involves rolling long, thin strips of paper into sturdy rods, which you then weave into a structured form. Despite being made from paper, these baskets are surprisingly firm and can last for years if sealed properly.

The process starts by rolling the paper rods tightly around a thin skewer or knitting needle. After making dozens of rods, you build a base by weaving them together like spokes of a wheel. From there, you weave additional rods around the base, using the classic over-and-under method. You can shape the sides as you prefer, either straight or slightly flared.
