Traditional aisle-and-row seating can create distance, even in small weddings. For an intimate backyard ceremony, consider arranging chairs in a circle or semi-circle around you.

This layout removes hierarchy and brings everyone into the moment. Guests can see one another, feel included, and experience the ceremony as participants rather than observers. It encourages emotional presence and shared energy.

For very small gatherings, even standing ceremonies or casual seating with benches and cushions can work beautifully. The goal is closeness—not formality.
