10. Simple Quilted Blanket

While more advanced than some of the other projects, a simple quilt can be scaled down for children. A small lap quilt or doll quilt is an excellent way to introduce basic quilting.

Kids can sew fabric squares together, layer with batting and backing fabric, and then sew along the seams to hold the layers in place. The edges can be bound with bias tape or simple folded fabric.

A quilt teaches patience and the basics of quilting techniques. It also creates a keepsake that children will treasure.
